Automobile Engineering Department Program Educational Objectives

  1. To produce highly competent supervisors/Engineer in automobile engineering to meet need of automobile industry and society.
  2. Students should be identified basic parts of automobile.
  3. Students should be able to operate various testing and measurement equipment of automobile.
  4. To produce automobile professionals, Having work ethics, responsibilities and good communication skills.
  5. To develop students for applying the knowledge of various engineering subjects to solve problems of society and Government.

About Department

Diploma Automobile engineering programs provide a wide spectrum of both theoretical and practical knowledge in modern automotives. The course provides in-depth knowledge of vehicle engineering, incorporating elements of mechanical, electrical, electronics, software and safety engineering. In addition to this, it also imparts knowledge of mathematics, science, basic computers, engineering drawing, Auto CAD and much more in the field of automobile engineering. It is applied to the design, manufacture and maintenance operation of motorcycle, buses and trucks. The Course for the Diploma in Automobile Engineering shall extend over a period of three academic years, consisting of 6 semesters and the first year is common to all engineering branches. A Student finishing his/her diploma can appear for selection for lateral entry in to B.Tech/B.E Second year directly. The greater benefit from this scheme is that a student would be studying almost all same subjects of diploma course with higher syllabus content. Hence he/she will be definitely in a better position to understand subjects.

Labs

All automotive vehicles are powered by automobile engines. Hence the fundamental knowledge of automobile engine is most essential for an auto technician. This course will help the students in manufacturing, inspection, operation, servicing and maintenance of various types of engines, and their different associative systems like lubricating systems, cooling systems, fuel systems, etc. This Lab consists equipments like injector cleaner cum test bench , 2stroke petrol engine test rig,4 stroke multi cylinder petrol engine test rig, 4 stroke Diesel engine test Rig ,etc.
Any automobile apart from engine is made of transmission system and other systems like brakes, steering, suspension systems, wheel and tyres. In this Laboratory student develop the knowledge about these systems. . In this Laboratory students perform various activities like inspection, installation, operation and maintenance of transmission, steering and suspension systems of automobiles. This Lab consists equipments like wheel alignment and balancing machine, cut section of differential assembly, cut section of automatic transmission, etc.
Automobiles emissions have become a social concern and engineers are supposed to reduce it. Emission standards are therefore set in every country to control this problem. These standards specify maximum amount of pollutants that can be released into the environment by different types of vehicles. The students should therefore have knowledge about the pollutants produced by automobiles and ways to reduce the pollution by the use of the various Emission control devices. In . In this Laboratory students get opportunity to develop skills in measuring pollutions and maintain Emission control devices. This Lab consists equipments like Diesel Smoke meter, Exhaust Gas Analyser, etc.
