Diploma in Electrical Engineering

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT VISION:-

“To be the source of creation for the best technocrat in electrical engineering who are meant for the Electrical industries and society”

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT MISSION:-

To identify needs of industries and society by interacting with them and develop the required skills in students of electrical engineering programme.

To develop skilled and Society responsible electrical engineers with deep understanding of electrical engineering basics and relevant industry skills through experiential learning by outcome based curriculum and effective implementation of it.

To arrange co-curricular, Extra-curricular activities, training, placement and project for the best technocrat in electrical engineering.

To develop discipline in students and make them technologically superior and ethically strong.

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT Program Educational Objectives

To provide the student which Possess strong educational foundation of mathematics, computing and electrical engineering that are technically sound and economically feasible

To impart engineering education to the students with an aim to promote awareness of contemporary issues, professional responsibilities, ethics and proactive attitude towards continuous learning.

To develop the students with basic knowledge, communication skills and prepare them with rational parameters to indentify problem & plan, while working in multidisciplinary teams.

To develop the students who will understand the professional responsibility in modern electrical power and energy related industry through global and rigorous education.

About Department

Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the pioneering departments of the Institute. Over the years, the department has progressed at a rapid pace with development in both the spheres of infrastructure facilities and academic programme. The department has highly qualified faculty members engaged in teaching and research in the field of Electrical Engineering. The department is equipped with Machine Lab, Computer Lab, Power System Lab, Digital Electronics Lab, Measurement Lab etc. The department offers diploma course in Electrical Engineering since 1994 with the granted intake of cumulatively 120 students (60 in morning shift & 60 in evening shift).

Labs

This laboratory introduces students to both passive and active electronic components (op-amps, 555 timers,TTL digital circuits). Basic analog and digital circuits and theory of operation are covered. The labs allow the students to master the use of electronic instruments and construct and/or solder several circuits. The labs also reinforce the concepts discussed in class with a hands-on approach and allow the students to gain significant experience with electrical instruments such as function generators, digital milimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and power supplies.
The computer lab is available in the department with well equipped and fully furnished environment. Softwares like labview, Autocad, Multisim and other softwares were used by the students to conduct the experiments. Even in the free time student can utilize the laboratory for the research and project work.

Well equipped laboratory with all types of ac and dc machines are available in the department. All the desirable practicals related to machines can be performed. In this lab we can perform load test and speed control on separately excited DC motor, no load test, blocked rotor test on three phase induction motor, open circuit, short circuit and load test on three phase alternator, etc

Electrical machines and power system are the back bone of electrical engineering and play a vital role in industry. It is therefore essential that students of Electrical Engineering should have a proper background in these areas. It is observed that the students do not take much interest in the laboratory. Hence, the necessity is felt to explain the concepts of electrical power system with suitable programs besides the theory and practice. This will provide better understanding of the subject. We are having transmission line trainer and relay testing kit and other related instruments
All the practical related to dc and ac bridges are available. Student can perform the practicals on these kits and can find the unknown resistance, capacitance and inductance. Also LVDT, thermocouple and different transducers are available in the laboratory.
